Mindful Eating

May 4, 2016 By Andi Freedman

When you think about the word “Mindfulness” what comes to mind? Do you picture a tranquil scene where someone is meditating in the woods or doing yoga on the Beach? Does it bring up images of happy healthy people experiencing inner peace? OR, (like me) does it make you roll your eyes at the overuse and misuse of this word? Here is a recent cover of Mindful Magazine:

Remember back in January when you made that resolution? The resolution that this year was the year that you were going to get healthy! You were going to eat right and exercise! Maybe you made it a few weeks or even a few months….Maybe you found a new diet that you were able to stick to for a while. For those 1st few weeks you thought “this is easy! Think Pink and Eat Healthy

November 23, 2015 By Andi Freedman

‎October is breast cancer awareness month

Recently, I went to a brunch where the guest speaker was Dr. Therese Mulvey: A medical oncologist and director of the Breast Center at the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center. She was a lively and entertaining speaker, and it was an extremely informative talk. There were many charts and graphs illustrating the risk factors and the benefits of early detection and mammograms. One statistic, however, stood out from all the others.

THE FACT THAT BEING OVERWEIGHT OR OBESE WAS THE GREATEST RISK FACTOR FOR GETTING BREAST CANCER.

The Light at the End of the Tunnel

November 23, 2015 By Andi Freedman

‎Light at the end of the tunnel

If I were to ask you “Why do you want to lose weight and get healthy?” You could probably rattle off a few reasons: “I want to live longer”, “I want to have more energy”, “I want to look better”, etc., etc. But, how many of those reasons come to mind when you’re staring down a piece of birthday cake or a plate of your favorite pasta dish? I’m going to guess 0!! Wouldn’t it be easier to make healthy choices if those reasons popped into your head when unhealthy options were right in front of you?
